A triple death case in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj has sparked suspicion of murder after three members of a family were found dead inside their house in the South Malaka area under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station.

The bodies were discovered on Wednesday afternoon after neighbours noticed a foul smell emanating from the house and alerted the police. When officers arrived and forced open the door, they found the bodies of the house owner, Virendra Vaishya, his wife Anita, and their daughter Meenakshi in separate rooms.

According to preliminary findings, all three bodies bore multiple injury marks, raising suspicion of foul play. A forensic team visited the scene and collected several pieces of evidence, including fingerprints and other forensic clues, as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Police said the family’s son, Abhishek, has been missing for several days and efforts are underway to trace him. Investigators are currently trying to determine whether his disappearance is connected to the deaths.

The incident occurred in a three-storey building located at the main South Malaka intersection. The lower floors house several commercial establishments, while families reside on the upper floors. Local residents told police that no member of the family had been seen leaving the house for several days. Suspicion arose only after a strong odour began coming from the premises.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, which is expected to help determine the exact cause and time of death. Police officials said further conclusions would be drawn after receiving the autopsy reports.

Investigators are also looking into possible property-related disputes within the family as part of the probe. However, officials have not ruled out any angle and said all possibilities are being examined.

The discovery triggered panic in the neighbourhood, with a large crowd gathering outside the house as police and forensic teams carried out their investigation.

Authorities said the case remains under investigation and more details are expected to emerge once forensic and post-mortem findings become available.
