Three men found guilty of killing Australian surfers

Three men have been found guilty of murdering Australian brothers, Jake and Callum Robinson, and their American friend Carter Rhoad during a surfing trip in Mexico in 2024.

A judge in Mexico ruled the three Mexican defendants acted with premeditation when they shot dead the the Australians near the coastal city of Ensenada on April 27, 2024.

The brothers, aged 30 and 33, respectively, and their friend Rhoad, 30, were on a surfing trip to Mexico’s Pacific coast when they were killed in Baja California state in a suspected robbery gone wrong.

The charges against the defendants included robbery and aggravated homicide, for which the prosecution had sought sentences of up to 150 years against the suspects.

The sentence will be announced in the coming days.
