Three people have been rushed to hospital after a four-way crash during peak hour on one of Brisbane’s busiest roads.
Three cars and a motorcycle were involved in the crash, which happened just before 8.30am on Gympie Road near Kedron Street in Kedron.
A man in his 50s with life-threatening injuries and two women – one in her 20s and one in her 80s – with potentially life-threatening injuries were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
The younger woman suffered head injuries in the crash, while the woman in her 80s had chest pain.
A woman in her 50s suffered minor injuries and declined transport to hospital.
Traffic lights at the major intersection of Gympie Road and Rode Road were turned off following the crash, with police directing the significant amount of backed-up traffic.
Drivers headed towards the city may experience major delays on Gympie Road, with traffic queuing at 10am from the site of the crash all the way to Westfield Chermside, about two and a half kilometres away.
