Shinde said five rounds were fired at Tiger Shroff‘s BMW as the actor was leaving after playing a football match on Sunday evening. While the actor escaped a direct gunshot injury, his driver Firdaus and an autorickshaw driver were injured in the incident.
After meeting Tiger, Shinde said the actor had sustained injuries to his right hand, which was burnt by gunpowder during the firing. He added that the actor’s family and his mother were concerned about their safety and had told him they had no quarrel or enmity with anyone.
“I met him just now and spoke to him. He sustained injuries to his right hand. His hand was burnt by gunpowder,” Shinde said, assuring the family that the Mumbai Police and the Maharashtra government stood with them.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the state government and police would treat the case as a priority, stressing that the safety of celebrities facing threats was as important as that of the general public.
“No gang or individual will be allowed to indulge in intimidation or hooliganism in Mumbai. No one will be spared,” he said, adding that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had taken the incident seriously.
Shinde also appealed to celebrities to immediately inform the police if they received threatening calls, assuring them that the government would take all necessary measures to ensure their safety.
“I would only say that, just as gang wars were brought to an end in the 1990s, we will not allow them to return to Mumbai,” he said.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke to Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti and actor Tiger Shroff following the firing incident. Fadnavis sought details from the police chief and directed him to swiftly apprehend the assailants, expedite the investigation and take strict action against those responsible.
BIKE-BORNE ASSAILANTS BEHIND ATTACK
Preliminary information suggests that three men arrived on a motorcycle, with two allegedly opening fire while the third waited on the bike to facilitate their escape. A video that surfaced after the incident appeared to show one of the shooters firing multiple rounds, while another also seemed to attempt to fire. The suspects were then seen fleeing on the motorcycle.
An eyewitness told India Today’s Aizaz Khan that the suspects had been spotted near a Vada Pav stall around half an hour before the firing. According to the eyewitness, two men opened fire while the third was involved in the getaway. The suspects were reportedly riding an old Pulsar motorcycle.
The eyewitness said the atmosphere turned chaotic as soon as the shots were fired. The attackers allegedly fired towards the side of the BMW where Tiger’s driver was seated. The eyewitness also claimed that Tiger drove the vehicle to the hospital after his injured driver was moved to the back seat.
Another eyewitness told India Today that Tiger was seated in the front passenger seat near the driver when the firing took place. However, the eyewitnesses’ accounts are subject to police verification.
Meanwhile, a social media post attributed to gangsters Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu, who are reportedly based abroad, claimed responsibility for the attack in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi group.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and detained one person for questioning as they work to identify and trace the attackers.
