Selections based on a good track.
Race 1
1. Grafton Street is an import that has only had the one start for a victory over 2212m at Listowel in Ireland in September. He’s had two recent trials in preparation for his Australian debut and has been close up on each of them at Randwick. Rachel King takes the ride and he looks primed to run well. 2. Pierro Lad broke through for a super maiden win at Kembla Grange when last produced and that was on the back of a fourth on the Kensington track at Randwick. Racing well enough to give this a shake. 3. Don’s Party was first up from a spell at Wyong last time out and backed up a couple of placings before the break with a dominant victory. 5. Derry City Felix looks the best of the rest.
How to play it: Grafton Street to win.
Race 2
2. Buongiorno is on debut for a form stable and has been well prepared for this assignment with a number of barrier trials spread over this year. He ran third in the latest of them at this track last month and looks ready to run a bold race. 1. Blazing Future has had two runs back from a spell at this track and can show improvement. 5. Rapid Revenue has finished third in his latest two Kembla Grange starts after making his debut with a down-the-track effort on the Kensington track at Randwick. 6. Rouladen has run second on each of three runs since resuming and should not be underestimated.
How to play it: Buongiorno each way.
Race 3
8. Farfetched had three runs earlier in the year and ran well in each of them. He’s had another three city runs since resuming from a break and has been placed in two of them, including a last-start third at Canterbury. Should take plenty of beating. 3. Gaultier was midfield at Caulfield Heath on debut last year and was spelled after that. He’s trialled twice leading into this and is set to run well. 1. Adaptation ran well when a first up fourth at Canterbury and can figure. 9. Kiss Of Gold was placed in three straight races after resuming before a last-start midfield Kembla Grange effort.
How to play it: Farfetched to win.
Race 4
1. Waerea is a talented Bivouac gelding that resumed from a spell with a narrow second at Kembla Grange. He has a win and four seconds from six starts and this looks made to order. 3. Galactic Force ran well when second last start at Wyong behind subsequent Randwick placegetter Mind Ya Bizz. 7. Share The Joy finally broke her maiden here when resuming and can go on with the job, while 2. Dubai Adventure was midfield at Illawarra Grange when resuming for a new stable.
How to play it: Waerea to win.
Race 5
7. Highborn Harry has hit the line well in his past two starts to be placed in each of them. The step up to 1800m looks ideal, and he gets his chance to win again. 4. The Iron Star races well at this track, was a winner here two starts ago and has claims based on that effort. 3. Viewpoint has been tackling city-grade races and performing well, and is not out of this. 8. Johnny Smash hit the line well for a last-start Wyong win and can get into the mix again.
How to play it: Highborn Harry to win.
Race 6
8. Latest Flame is a Savabeel filly making her debut after two Rosehill barrier trials, finishing fifth in each of them. She looks to have the talent to give this a shake. 5. Union resumed from a spell with a third at Kembla Grange and only needs to run up to that to be difficult to hold out. 1. Mayweather failed to beat a runner home on debut at Newcastle in October 2024, but resumes here after three recent trials and can make good improvement. 4. Mille Feuille showed potential in two runs earlier in the year and has looked good in her trials leading into this first-up run.
How to play it: Latest Flame each way.
Race 7
1. Castlejohn was a strong winner on debut at Warwick Farm at double-figure odds in March, and followed that up with a sixth at the same track when not beaten too far. He resumes here after two trials and is set to produce another bold fresh run. 2. Dirty Summer broke through to win at this track in super maiden grade in May at his fourth start and is a Randwick trial winner. 6. Ballet Encore produced an impressive sprint to score a last-start win at Wyong and warrants respect again, while 8. Sprightly Affair resumed with a dominant Newcastle win at her second start and should show up again.
How to play it: Castlejohn to win.
