Selections based on a heavy track.
Race 1
4. Copycat had two starts in January and while he ran last in both, they were both at Canterbury against city-grade opposition. He resumes from a spell in this after finishing second in two solid barrier trials at Warwick Farm. He’s drawn a wide gate but can figure in the finish if he gets any luck in running. 8. Touching Hans is making his debut and has been fitted for this with two recent trials, having won another at Hawkesbury last September. He won again in the latest of them at Gosford and is from a stable that is in form. A bold showing is on the cards. 10. Ask Di was resuming from a spell when close-up in sixth placing at Wyong behind Gamp and can be thereabouts despite the awkward alley. 13. Our Lady Peace has been placed in each of her past two starts and is knocking on the door for a victory.
How to play it: Copycat each way.
Race 2
1. Century Song struck winning form at the end of his last preparation when he won three in a row at Nowra and the latest two at this track in January. He hit the line in each win and has had two trials leading into this return to racing. He can be expected to sprint well fresh. 6. Charlina is a speedy filly that won in good style at Gosford when last produced and should take plenty of running down again with a repeat performance. 8. Sunday Tycoon attacked the line well to score a last-start win at this track as favourite and should be thereabouts again. 5. Bode Akuna won at Canberra before being close-up at Wyong when last produced.
How to play it: Century Song to win.
Race 3
4. Dance With Destiny was midfield in the ATC Oaks and a last-start second behind subsequent winner Spacetime Legend at Newcastle. She looks ready to break her maiden against these. 7. Think I Will is lightly raced, having had only three starts, but can give a sight from the front. 13. Tragedies is yet to be placed from nine starts, but she hasn’t been far away of late and could easily get into the minor money. 6. Isosceles was down the track when he resumed but could improve.
How to play it: Dance With Destiny to win.
Race 4
1. Smoke ‘N’ Darts has had three starts and finished second in each of them at Hawkesbury. This looks made to order and he is set to break through with a victory. 4. Master Johnny is on debut after an Illawarra Grange trial win and bears close watching. 12. Lion Hunt won his second trial at Rosehill and can run a bold race on debut in this. Debutant 2. Captain Peacock has shown enough talent in his three trials to be rated a contender.
How to play it: Smoke ‘N’ Darts to win.
Race 5
12. Five Of A Kind has had two starts back from a spell for a fourth at Hawkesbury and a last-start second at this track. She’s drawn ideally to get a soft run in this and gets her chance to win. 4. Col Du Tourmalet followed a second on debut at Canberra with a Warwick Farm fifth and this looks within reach on those efforts. 3. Glamour Magic has finished third in two of three starts and should be in the mix again. 2. Flying Party has been placed in four of five starts and warrants thought.
How to play it: Five Of A Kind to win.
Race 6
1. Autumn Blonde doesn’t win out of turn, but has performed well in three runs back from a spell with two fourths either side of a Hawkesbury seventh. She looks set to peak here and can break through again. 6. Felis Chaus comes here after a last start close-up second at Goulburn and is set to run well again on the strength of that. 10. Rose Water has been racing well, with three placings from her last four starts, and was close-up in city grade in the other. 3. Brannum ran well when second at Hawkesbury last time out.
How to play it: Autumn Blonde to win.
Race 7
8. Easiest Choice was placed on debut at Newcastle last July and was then spelled. She resumed with a win at the same track at the end of January and has since finished fourth at this track and third at Wyong either side of an easy triumph at Wyong. She looks to have the talent to win again in this. 5. Koios was back in winning form when he won at this track in his last start and only needs to run up to that to be hard to hold out again. 3. Heuristic resumed from a spell with a fifth placing at Warwick Farm and should be better for that hit-out. 1. Presides won at this track when resuming from a spell before a last-start eighth at Gosford.
How to play it: Easiest Choice to win.
