Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Jay Prakash Majumdar was arrested by police from the Bidhannagar North Police Station on charges of allegedly molesting and threatening a woman during a dispute over a property in Salt Lake, police sources said.
According to the complainant, Majumdar had allegedly been occupying a property located at E-337 in Salt Lake for the past 14 years and had been using the premises as an office. The woman, who claims to be the owner of the house, alleged that several legal notices had been served asking him to vacate the property, but he refused to do so.

The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday afternoon when Majumdar visited the property. The complainant alleged that he attempted to open a locked door at the premises, prompting her to intervene. During the ensuing altercation, Majumdar allegedly pushed the woman, molested her and issued threats.
Following the confrontation, the woman reportedly caught hold of Majumdar on the road and staged a protest. Police personnel from Bidhannagar North Police Station reached the spot and took both parties to the police station for questioning.
Based on a written complaint filed by the woman, police registered a case and subsequently arrested Majumdar.
Police have begun an investigation into the allegations. There was no immediate response from Majumdar regarding the charges.
