Three teenagers have been arrested after a police officer was hit by an allegedly stolen car in Melbourne’s south east, sending her several metres through the air.
An allegedly stolen black Mercedes Benz SUV was being tracked by police when it was located on Gubbah Court in Ashwood about 2.15am Saturday.
Police then moved in on the vehicle when it allegedly drove out of the court and mounted the footpath.
As it hit the footpath, the car allegedly struck a female officer, who was launched several metres down the road.
“The first constable was lucky to escape serious injury and was transported to hospital with minor injuries,” police said in a statement.
The car allegedly sped away from the scene, where it struck a fence on the corner of Jordan St and Salisbury Rd.
The Air Wing was deployed to track down the alleged assailants, and three teens, aged 15, 16 and 17, were located and arrested.
Police allege the car was stolen during a home invasion in Cranbourne East about 30 minutes before.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing and no charges have been laid.
“Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working to locate two outstanding offenders who were also believed to be at the scene and fled,” the statement read.
