Mystery surrounds an overnight break-in and the theft of trophies at Queensland’s ritziest golf club.
The Royal Queensland Golf Club in Eagle Farm informed members on Saturday a balcony door had been drilled open the night before.
“We regret to inform members that the Clubhouse suffered a break-in last night,” its newsletter said.
“A glass trophy cabinet was smashed, with several of the club trophies stolen.
“Further investigation through clubhouse cameras and security systems will follow.”
The club is one of the most exclusive in Queensland, with a more than $20,000 entrance fee for full members.
Queensland police confirmed they had been contacted by the club.
A spokesperson said officers believed the theft occurred between 7pm on July 31 and 5am on August 1.
“Investigations are continuing to determine the persons involved.
“Police urge anyone with information that may assist investigations to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.”
