Two young children under the age of five have been killed after a car crashed into their pram in Sydney.
At about 3.15pm on Wednesday, a car struck a pram carrying two children at the intersection of Joseph and Gilbert St in Cabramatta, in Sydney’s southwest.
The youngsters were treated by paramedics from NSW Ambulance at the scene and rushed to hospital in a critical condition, where they later died.
NSW Police has confirmed a 33-year-old woman, who was known to the children, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The driver of the car, a 56-year-old man, was uninjured and placed under arrest, before being taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
The Cumberland Highway has been closed southbound in Cabramatta Gilbert St and Coventry Rd.
The children are yet to be formally identified, but a file will be prepared for the coroner.
