In New Delhi, many student organizations protested on Monday, August 17 in the capital’s capital against the National Testing Agency’s decision to retake the UGC-NET exams for three subjects, pleading for the NTA to be abolished because its “repeated lapses” have threatened students ‘ academic and career plans.
The NTA is still being criticized for its examination-related abnormalities as a result of the protests.
After an expert committee discovered scientific, graphic, language, and language-related problems in the topic papers, the NTA has mandated new exams for candidates who registered for the English, Commerce, and Sociology exams in June of this year.
At the NTA headquarters ‘ Okhla Industrial Estate, the All India Students ‘ Association ( AISA ) held a demonstration. It argued that the three papers ‘ cancellation was yet another example of systemic incompetence and lack of accountability, and demanded that the screening agency be completely abolished.
The NTA office in Okhla was the site of a protest by the Students ‘ Federation of India ( SFI), which demanded nationwide demonstrations against the organization.
The student wing of the RSS, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad ( ABVP), also expressed concern about the re-examination, claiming serious problems in an evaluation at the national level raised doubts about the legitimacy of the procedure.
Major errors are “deeply concerning.”
Learners should not have to “pay the rate” for NTA’s errors, according to ABVP nationwide general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki, and they should be held accountable at every stage of question-paper planning and investigation management.
Severe problems in a national-level test like UGC-NET are “deeply concerning.” Kids shouldn’t have to pay the price for NTA’s errors, Solanki said.
The ABVP called for improving question paper preparation through professional review, translation, proofreading, and last quality checks after earlier raising concerns about the delay in the release of the interim answer key.

AISA, which is affiliated with the Communist Party of India ( Marxist–Leninist Liberation ), claimed that police detained the protesters when they gathered at the NTA headquarters.
AISA criticized the police’s “violent detention of protesting kids,” calling it a continuation of the persecution seen during earlier student actions over irregularities.
The police did not offer an instant reply.
AISA argued that the most recent controversy surrounding the UGC-NET exam scheduled for June 2026 was yet another illustration of the NTA model’s creation of a problems. It claimed that there had been reports about irregularities in the sociology document, including the distribution of a allegedly Download with questions and answers from the NTA program.
The organization also raised questions about the English paper, alleging that the majority of its concerns were taken from the evaluation in 2024.

The Delhi state committee of the CPI ( M)-affiliated SFI also claimed that the NTA’s most recent ruling had exposed its inability to conduct fair and error-free examinations.
It claimed that the expert committee had discovered issues like misspelled scientists ‘ names, garbled book titles, grammatical mistakes, question language that was incorrect, and repetition of questions that had previously been asked.
The SFI argued that” students ‘ futures cannot continue to be treated as collateral damage,” and that the NTA should be replaced with a transparent and accountable examination system.
The organization also pressed for a criminal investigation into the company’s repeated failures to pass the UGC-NET exams and the circumstances surrounding the incorrect UGC-NET papers, claiming that every incorrect or retaken investigation resulted in the loss of months of preparation, planning, and preparing for students, as well as the disruption of admissions and job plans.
The Union Ministry of Education’s Krantikari Yuva Sangathan ( KYS) also staged a demonstration against the cancellation of the three UGC-NET papers and forbids the NTA’s immediate dissolution.
