An undertrial inmate was allegedly stabbed to death by two fellow prisoners inside Central Jail No. 10 in Delhi’s Rohini on Monday, with his family alleging that jail staff failed to provide timely assistance to the victim.
The deceased, identified as Pradeep alias Mohinder (31), was lodged in judicial custody in barrack number 203 of the prison in connection with a murder case, police said.

According to preliminary information, Pradeep was returning towards his barrack when he was allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon by two fellow inmates. He sustained a stab injury to his neck, they said.
He was taken to BSA Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Pradeep’s sister Nisha alleged that jail staff did not provide timely assistance to her brother after the attack.
“My cousin had come to meet him. After the meeting, he was stabbed and the jail staff did not do anything to save him. After one hour, they took him to the hospital. They did not tell us anything,” she alleged.
Nisha claimed that around four to five people were present during the incident, also questioning how a sharp-edged weapon could enter the jail premises despite the security arrangements.
She also said Pradeep had been lodged in the jail for around one-and-a-half years in connection with a murder case and was scheduled to get bail on October 3. “This is why they killed him,” she alleged.
A case is being registered at Samaypur Badli police station in connection with the incident, police said.
Senior police officers reached the jail and hospital after receiving information about the incident. The medico-legal case report has been collected and CCTV footage is being examined, they said.
Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, including the sequence of events inside the prison, they added.
