The University of Sheffield has announced a £7,000 scholarship for international students, including those from India, who plan to pursue postgraduate taught courses in September 2027. The university will offer the scholarship as a tuition fee reduction, and eligible students will not need to submit a separate application. The International Postgraduate Scholarship 2027 covers students from 10 countries and regions. These include India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Nigeria, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Trkiye and Vietnam.
UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD SCHOLARSHIP 2027: ELIGIBILITY
Students must start a postgraduate taught degree at the University of Sheffield in September 2027. They must also hold an offer from the university and accept it by 4 pm UK time on July 6, 2027.
Applicants must be permanent residents of an eligible country or must have lived there for the last three years. They must also qualify as overseas students for tuition fee purposes and fund their studies themselves.
The scholarship applies to full-time postgraduate taught programmes. The university also considers MArch programmes under the postgraduate taught category.
WHICH COURSES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE?
The scholarship does not cover Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) or Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) courses.
Students cannot claim the scholarship for online or distance-learning programmes. Crossways courses and Erasmus Mundus courses are also excluded.
The scholarship does not cover postgraduate courses that charge a higher clinical fee. Programmes split between the University of Sheffield and a partner institution are also not eligible.
CAN THIS SCHOLARSHIP BE COMBINED WITH OTHER DISCOUNT?
Students cannot normally combine the £7,000 scholarship with another University of Sheffield scholarship or discount.
The university also does not allow students to combine it with full or partial funding from an external sponsor. However, students can use a loan that they must repay in full.
Students who receive a repayable loan from an organisation linked to a university discount cannot claim both benefits. The university will apply the more valuable award.
Students cannot defer the scholarship to a later year of entry. They will lose the award if they defer their admission.
Students enrolled in a two-year master’s programme can receive the £7,000 scholarship in their second year. They must successfully complete their first year to receive the award.
The scholarship does not cover compulsory or optional years in industry or study-abroad years.
Students can also receive the scholarship if they studied at the University of Sheffield International College, subject to the eligibility conditions.
