Bablu was rushed to the district hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. His son said the injuries were so severe that the skin on his father’s back had been scraped from head to toe. He also alleged that Bablu was found without clothes and that his money, wallet and mobile phone were missing.
WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT
According to Shivam, Bablu had gone out with his friend Vimlesh Rathore on Sunday evening after Vimlesh asked him to accompany him to Shahabad in Hardoi to collect a payment.
Shivam said Vimlesh came to Bablu’s shop around 5 pm and asked him to come along in his WagonR. Bablu initially refused, but Vimlesh allegedly insisted and took him with him.
The two later reached Bablu’s in-laws’ house in Pihani, where they ate and drank. Bablu did not return home that night, prompting Shivam and his family to start looking for him.
Shivam said he went to Vimlesh’s house during the search and found him there, but Bablu was not with him. The family later learnt that Bablu had been found in an injured condition on the roadside near Kuiyan.
According to Shivam, his father was unconscious when the family reached the spot. He alleged that Bablu had been beaten and dragged behind the car for around 2 to 2.5 km before being left on the road.
SON ALLEGES THREAT BEFORE ASSAULT
Shivam also alleged that Vimlesh had threatened his father earlier in the night, telling him, “Today you will not go back alive.”
He further alleged that Rs 30,000, a gold chain and a ring were taken from his father. In his account, he also said Bablu’s clothes, wallet, money and mobile phone were missing when he was found.
Bablu was then taken to the district hospital in the family’s vehicle for treatment.
POLICE DETAIN ACCUSED
Police have detained Vimlesh Rathore in connection with the incident. The complaint said that Vimlesh first made Bablu consume alcohol and then tied him to a vehicle and dragged him, causing serious injuries.
A case has been registered under relevant sections and Vimlesh has been detained. Police are questioning him to establish what led to the alleged assault and dragging. Further legal action is underway.
