A US woman who has been living in India for a while now has shared what she loves about the neighbourhood kirana stores in New Delhi, explaining how she can pick up everyday essentials from a shop less than a minute away from her home.
Kristen Fischer, who often shares glimpses of her life in India on Instagram, posted a video of her morning visit to a nearby kirana store.

In the clip, she asked the shopkeeper in Hindi if he had full-cream milk and ordered two kilograms of it, along with half a kilogram of curd.
After collecting her groceries, Fischer said, “So fast and convenient. And then I just walk the one minute back to my house. I love it.”
In the caption accompanying the video, Fischer wrote, “One thing I love about India. There are small shops everywhere. Conveniences are always a short walk away. Kirana stores are what make India function. I love it.”
