Brazilian forward Vinicius jr. has put an end to rumours linking him with a move away from Real Madrid by signing a long-term contract with Los Blancos on Thursday, August 6. The forward was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal after the Premier League champions reportedly registered their interest in the player.
Vini jr. will sign a deal with Real Madrid until June 30, 2032, meaning that he will remain a part of the club’s long-term future.

“Real Madrid CF and Vinicius Jr. have agreed to extend the contract of our player, who is now tied to the club until June 30, 2032.”
“Vinicius Jr. has become one of the most important players in one of the most successful periods in our history,” read the statement from Real Madrid.
The deal comes after a long period of speculation surrounding the Brazilian forward’s future at the club. After he rebuffed the initial approaches for an extension, Vini Jr was left with the option of running down his contract, move to Arsenal or re-sign with Los Blancos, according to the Athletic.
The report also states that the new deal for the Brazilian forward reflects his importance to the club and their project.
Since arriving from Flamengo in the summer of 2018, Vinicius Jr has established himself as one of Real Madrid’s most influential players. Across 375 appearances for Los Blancos, the Brazilian forward has amassed 128 goals and 100 assists, playing a key role in winning three La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League crowns.
The 2025-26 season saw Vinicius contribute 22 goals in all competitions, but his efforts were not enough to prevent another trophyless campaign for Madrid. The Spanish giants finished second in La Liga, ending eight points behind arch-rivals Barcelona, and failed to add any major silverware to their cabinet.
Vinicius’ rise at Real Madrid has also been recognised with a string of prestigious individual honours. The Brazilian was crowned The Best FIFA Men’s Player in 2024, while also winning the Golden Ball at the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in 2024.
His performances in Europe earned him the UEFA Champions League Player of the Season award for the 2023-24 campaign, after previously claiming the FIFA Club World Cup Golden Ball in 2022 and the UEFA Champions League Young Player of the Season accolade in 2021-22.
Vini Jr. extending his deal is the latest episode of a busy summer for Real Madrid. They have signed Ibrahim Konate, Marc Cucurella and Denzel Dumfries among other deals. On Thursday, they also announced a deal to sign Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande.
