Firefighters were called out to a blaze at a daycare centre in Perth’s northern suburbs this morning, with investigations now underway to establish the cause.

The fire at the Care for Kids school of early learning in Kingsley was reported around 5am and was extinguished quickly, with crews slowly starting to clean up by 6.30am.

Crews told 9News Perth that the fire started in the kitchen, and that they had managed to stop it spreading throughout the rest of the daycare centre.

But the smoke damage is extensive throughout the property.

Although investigations are now underway, crews are confident it was not deliberately lit.
