WA news LIVE: WAFL suspends Subiaco coach over umpire abuse

Subiaco head coach Jarrad Schofield has been suspended for two matches after being found guilty of umpire abuse at a WAFL tribunal hearing last night.

Following a marathon hearing, the 51-year-old was found guilty of behaving in an abusing, insulting, threatening or obscene manner towards an umpire following his team’s loss to West Coast at the weekend.

The former AFL player has been ruled out of coaching for the last two home and away games of the season, with his team fighting to make finals.

Subiaco has until 5pm today to lodge an appeal on the decision.

Schofield took the reins at Subiaco this year after spending four seasons with the West Coast Eagles as an assistant coach.

He played for West Coast and then Port Adelaide in the 1990s and early 2000s, including winning a premiership with Port Adelaide.
