WHO IS ALAN JONES?

* An 85-year-old former radio host who enjoyed a hugely influential broadcasting career spanning 35 years

* He started his career in 1985 at Sydney radio station 2UE before joining rival 2GB

* Jones coached the national rugby union team, the Wallabies, earning a place in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1989

* He held political aspirations with the Country Party and Liberals but was unsuccessful

WHY IS HE IN COURT?

* Jones has pleaded not guilty to 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching without consent in relation to six complainants

* He is accused of subjecting the complainants to unwanted groping, kisses, and sexual misconduct both in public and private places

* It is alleged the offences took place between 2003 and 2020 in Sydney and the NSW Southern Highlands

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

* Jones is fighting the allegations against him in a NSW Local Court hearing, beginning Monday.

* The hearing is expected to run for four months and hear from around 76 witnesses

WHAT HAS JONES SAID?

* “These allegations are all either baseless or they distort the truth. I have never indecently assaulted these people” – Jones in December 2024, a month after his arrest.
