Serena and Venus Williams will reunite at the US Open after receiving a wild card for the women’s doubles event at the 2026 tournament. The USTA announced the sisters’ entry on Wednesday, giving them another opportunity to share the court at Flushing Meadows.
The Williams sisters have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles together, including two US Open crowns in 1999 and 2009. They have also claimed four Olympic gold medals as a doubles team.

Their last appearance together at the US Open came in 2022, when Serena played at the tournament for the final time before stepping away from professional tennis. The sisters recently reunited at the Cincinnati Open, where they played together for the first time since 2022 but lost in the opening round.
Serena has already returned to action at this year’s US Open, partnering Carlos Alcaraz in the mixed doubles event. The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion and six-time US Open winner reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated. Venus, meanwhile, has also received a wild card for the singles main draw.
The women’s doubles campaign will give the Williams sisters another chance to add to their remarkable shared legacy at the tournament, where they have been one of the most successful doubles pairings in history.
WAWRINKA GETS SECOND CHANCE AFTER INITIAL SNUB
Three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka has now received a singles main-draw wild card for the 2026 US Open after Patrick Kypson withdrew from the tournament with an injury.
Wawrinka was initially left out of the US Open wildcard selections, with the final available spot going to American Kypson. The decision meant the Swiss veteran was set to miss what could have been his final appearance at Flushing Meadows.
However, Kypson’s withdrawal has opened the door for Wawrinka to return to the main draw. The 41-year-old is in the final season of his professional career and had previously received wild cards at the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon this year.
Wawrinka won his three Grand Slam titles at the 2014 Australian Open, 2015 French Open and 2016 US Open. His triumph in New York came after he defeated Novak Djokovic in the final, adding a major title during an era dominated by the sport’s Big Three.
The latest development ensures Wawrinka will get another opportunity to compete at the tournament where he achieved one of the biggest victories of his career.
