A woman and a girl have been found dead in an SUV that crashed into a dam on the outskirts of a city on the Fraser Coast, north of Brisbane.
Emergency services received reports the Subaru Tribeca entered the water on Springvale Road at Tinana South in Maryborough just before 5.30pm on Thursday.
A 36-year-old woman from the area and 10-year-old girl were found dead inside.
Police said the vehicle went through a fence before it hit the water.
The pair were not mother and daughter, police said, but officers could not confirm their relationship on Friday morning.
Investigations into the circumstances leading up to the crash were continuing.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or had further information was urged to contact police.
Maryborough is about 250 kilometres north of Brisbane.
