A simple auto ride, a failed payment, and one unexpectedly corporate conversation have turned into a viral moment online, after a woman’s chat with her driver sounded more like a workplace email thread.

The moment was shared on Instagram by Nishta Shetty, who said she had taken an auto to work and paid the driver via Google Pay after reaching her destination. However, she later realised the payment had failed due to an issue with the payment ID.

She then texted the driver in Hindi to inform him about the glitch. “Aapka payment fail ho gaya hai because ye ID ka kuch issue ho raha hai (Payment failed, your payment has failed because there is some issue with the ID),” she wrote.

What she did not expect was a response that sounded more like a formal customer service email than a quick chat between driver and passenger.

The driver replied with a calm, structured message: “If you’re planning to return by auto, I can come and drop you instead, while coming back, theek hai? (Is that okay?) If possible, you can pay me in cash at that time. Is that okay with you? Or I can come where I dropped you and if you have the cash with you, I’ll collect it there.”

Reading it out in her video, Shetty said she was taken aback by the tone. “Why is he talking like he’s replying to, like, an official email?” she said, adding that she immediately felt “intimidated” by the level of professionalism.

She quickly switched languages in her next message. “Please come by 6 p.m. while returning,” she wrote in English.

The driver’s reply was even shorter, but equally formal: “Noted.”

Shetty couldn’t help but laugh at the interaction. “He has better corporate communication skills than half of the people I’ve worked with,” she joked in the video.

The clip, captioned “the way I immediately matched his professionalism,” has since sparked amusement online, with users calling the driver’s tone unexpectedly polished. One user commented, “This auto driver deserves a LinkedIn profile,” while another added, “The ‘Noted’ at the end is peak corporate behaviour.”

What began as a routine payment issue has now become a reminder that sometimes, the most formal email tone you’ll encounter might just come from your auto driver.
