Most CEOs spend their days discussing business strategies, market trends and company growth. But a recent viral video showed Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath tackling a very different challenge: understanding Gen Z internet slang.
The light-hearted clip, shared by Gowri Bhat Gandotra from Rainmatter by Zerodha, captures a fun exchange between the entrepreneur and a younger colleague who puts his knowledge of popular online expressions to the test. The result is a charming generation-gap moment that has entertained social media users.

The conversation begins with a discussion about age. Gowri asks Kamath whether he is a millennial. Responding candidly, he says, “I’m 46.”
She then jokingly calls him a “boomer boss” before correcting herself and identifying him as a member of Generation X. With the introductions out of the way, the quiz begins.
The first term on the list is “rizz”, a word that has become a staple of social media conversations. Gowri asks Kamath what it means when someone says, “This person’s got a lot of rizz.”
Kamath appears genuinely puzzled by the term. Seeing his confusion, Gowri reveals the answer, explaining that “rizz” is short for charisma. The revelation leaves him amused as he prepares for the next challenge.
The second word is “simp”. Asked to define it, Kamath takes an educated guess.
“I think it’s a slang word for simple,” he says.
Unfortunately for him, that wasn’t the correct answer.
The quiz only gets trickier from there. Gowri next introduces the phrase “clock it”, even demonstrating the hand gesture often associated with it online. The expression is commonly used to indicate that someone has noticed an important detail, understood a hidden meaning or correctly picked up on a subtle observation.
Despite the explanation, Kamath still seems unsure about when and how the phrase is used.
His fortunes improve with the final question. When asked about the meaning of “slay”, Kamath finally gets one right, earning a point on the scoreboard.

Wrapping up the quiz, Gowri tells him, “You got 1 out of 4, so not bad.”
The clip has since delighted viewers, many of whom praised Kamath for embracing the joke and participating with good humour. For many, it was a refreshing glimpse of a CEO willing to laugh at himself while navigating the ever-evolving language of the internet.
