According to snake catcher Aqeel Baba, the students spotted the python when they entered the bathroom and immediately reported the incident. Thanks to the timely alert, the python was rescued safely without any harm.
The hostel students and staff breathed a sigh of relief after the python was captured. The creature had been safely removed from the very spot the students had been afraid to approach just moments earlier. A crowd gathered at the scene during the rescue, and everyone appeared astonished to see the 10-foot-long python.
Aqeel Baba explained that the Tili area is adjacent to a hilly region. Due to the surrounding natural terrain, pythons and other snake species are frequently spotted there.
Snakes often make their way into residential areas and buildings in search of safe shelter, particularly during the monsoon season.
He added that pythons have frequently been spotted in these housing scheme buildings in the past. He has rescued approximately 70 to 75 pythons from the area so far; all of them were safely captured and released into the wild in the presence of Forest Department officials.
Preparations are currently underway to safely release this 10-foot-long rescued python as well. The snake catcher has urged the public not to attempt to catch or kill any snake or python found in homes, hostels, or other residential areas. Instead, they should immediately inform a trained snake catcher or the relevant authorities.
The incident involving the discovery of such a large python in a girls’ hostel bathroom has become a topic of discussion across the entire area. However, a potential tragedy was averted thanks to the timely rescue, and the python was also saved safely.
