A slab of an under-construction building collapsed in Kudasan, Gandhinagar, with more than 10 workers feared trapped under the debris, police said. Five injured workers have been rescued and taken to hospital, according to the police.
“A portion of an under-construction building collapsed in the Kudasan area of Gandhinagar. Fire department teams are currently engaged in rescue operations at the site. More details are awaited,” Rajesh Patel, Fire Officer, Gandhinagar, told news agency ANI.

Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi rushed to the spot and climbed on top of a truck to inspect the site of the collapse.
The incident comes days after a five-storey paying guest accommodation for students came crashing down in Delhi’s Satya Niketan amid construction activity in the basement, killing seven people.
