The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks across Pakistan’s Balochistan province, saying 26 Pakistani military and government-backed armed personnel were killed between August 9 and 15. The group claimed it carried out 22 attacks during the eight-day period, targeting military personnel, police, government-backed armed groups, security installations, infrastructure and commercial vehicles, according to a report by The Balochistan Post (TBP).

The claims were made in a statement attributed to BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch. There was no immediate comprehensive response from Pakistani authorities addressing all of the allegations.

ATTACKS REPORTED ACROSS BALOCHISTAN

According to TBP, the BLA said its fighters seized three commercial vehicles along the Quetta-Taftan trade route in Chagai on August 9. The group also claimed to have detained police personnel belonging to the Eagle Squad on Qambrani Road in Quetta and seized their weapons and equipment.

On August 10, the BLA claimed its fighters detained police personnel at Zomi on the main highway in Kharan before destroying the police post with explosives. It said the personnel were later released after being warned.

The following day, the group claimed an attack on a government-backed armed group in Sorap, in Kech’s Buleda area. It is alleged that the group’s leader, Muslim Jeeyand, was killed, four others were wounded, and another person was detained.

MILITARY CONVOYS TARGETED

The BLA claimed several attacks against Pakistani military vehicles and convoys during the period. On August 12, it said it destroyed the Chehtar police station in Chagai with explosives and attacked military vehicles at Bartagzi.

The group also claimed an improvised explosive device attack on a military convoy in Rodenjo, Kalat. It alleged that 17 personnel were killed and several others wounded, while two military vehicles were damaged. Separately, the BLA claimed an IED attack on a military vehicle in Surab that allegedly killed three personnel and wounded several others.

On August 14, the group claimed another IED attack on a military convoy in Turbat. It said one military vehicle was destroyed, three personnel were killed and four others were wounded.

POLICE, SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS ALSO TARGETED

The BLA’s operations also targeted police facilities and surveillance equipment. On August 13, a police officer was wounded in a grenade attack on police lines in Chitkan, Panjgur, according to the group.

Surveillance and night-vision cameras were also destroyed in Gilli, Buleda. Fighters also shot down a quadcopter being used for aerial surveillance, the statement said. A commercial vehicle was later set on fire in Talu, Chagai. Two Pakistani military personnel were also killed in an attack at Badal Karez Cross in Nushki, according to the statement.

On August 14, several grenades were fired at a government event near Agriculture Colony in Quetta. A military camp in Ahmadwal, Nushki, was also attacked with heavy weapons. Two commercial vehicles were also disabled in Bartagzi. An explosion damaged a railway track at Jojki.

On August 15, the BLA claimed that two military posts and a bridge near Mal Madrassa in Surab were destroyed using explosives. The group also described fighting in Chedgi, Panjgur, saying the clashes began on August 10 after Pakistani troops advanced into the area.

The BLA said Pakistani forces launched a ground operation in Chedgi, Panjgur, on August 10, triggering an hours-long clash with its fighters. The group claimed two of its fighters, Sangat Wazir Ahmed alias Zahid and Sangat Jasim alias Meraj, were killed in the fighting. It also alleged that Pakistani authorities later killed three forcibly disappeared Baloch men in a staged encounter and falsely presented them as casualties of the clash. The allegations could not be independently verified.

Balochistan’s unrest has lasted for more than two decades. Baloch separatist groups accuse Islamabad of exploiting the province’s resources while sidelining its people politically and economically. The BLA, the most prominent separatist group, has repeatedly carried out attacks on security forces, civilians, Chinese nationals and infrastructure. The US designated it a Foreign Terrorist Organisation in 2025.

The violence remains widespread. Balochistan recorded 956 fatalities from hundreds of violent incidents in 2025, according to Pakistan‘s Centre for Research and Security Studies.
