Actor Shilpa Shinde reacted amid the backlash over her recent admission that she had made a false sexual harassment allegation during her long-running dispute related to Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!. Days after the comments sparked widespread criticism and drew a strong reaction from the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), Shilpa shared a cryptic message on social media, telling critics, “jo ukhadna hai ukhad lo (do whatever you want).”

On Saturday, the actor posted a reel on Instagram featuring a collection of her photos and videos. The clip carried the text, “Be a woman! Always ready to say jo ukhadna hai ukhad lo (sic).”

Accompanying the post was a caption that read, “Jalne walo jalte raho apna khoon Kisi jarurat mand ko mat do jala Jala Ke khatam kar do (The ones who are jealous stay like that. Don’t spend your energy on anyone who needs help, just stay jealous and destroy it) (sic).”

Shilpa also uploaded another video in which she appeared to take a swipe at those allegedly shaping public perception around the controversy.

In the caption, she wrote, “KEEP DOING YOUR JOB PR but Stop spreading false narratives about the case (sic).”

The video included an explanation of what constitutes sexual harassment, with the actor listing examples such as unwanted touching, sexually explicit comments, inappropriate messages, repeated advances and suggestive gestures.

She ended the clip by encouraging people to educate themselves about their rights and avoid believing unverified claims.

ACTORS’ BODY ASSOCIATION REACTS

The fresh posts come after Shilpa’s remarks during a conversation with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiya, where she said she had levelled the allegation because she felt she had no other option while dealing with a contractual dispute.

Her comments have triggered a strong response from the All Indian Cine Workers Association.

In a statement issued on Friday, the organisation described the matter as deeply concerning and called on Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to look into the issue.

Explaining its position, the association said, “The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) believes that if a person knowingly makes false allegations, it not only harms the accused but also undermines the credibility of genuine victims who come forward seeking justice. Such incidents can create doubt around legitimate complaints and make it more difficult for real survivors of harassment within the Bollywood film industry to be heard and believed.”

ALL ABOUT THE CONTROVERSY

The controversy stems from Shilpa’s exit from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! in 2016. At the time, she was involved in a bitter disagreement with the show’s producers over contract-related issues and alleged unpaid dues. The fallout led to legal notices, public accusations and complaints against producers Binaifer Kohli and Sanjay Kohli.

The matter was eventually settled, with both parties moving forward professionally. Relations reportedly improved over the years, and Shilpa later returned to the franchise.

However, her recent revelation has brought the decade-old controversy back into focus and reignited debate within the television industry.

Notably, this is the first time Shilpa has publicly stated that the sexual harassment allegation made during that dispute was false.
