In an attempt to escape, the girl ran to the roof of the house. However, the accused followed her and tried to further assault her by tying a rope around her neck and attempting to hang her.
A video of the incident shows the accused attempting to hang the girl from the roof while she was still alive and bleeding profusely. He then let go of the rope, causing her to fall to the ground, after which he jumped down and approached her again.
The survivor sustained critical injuries and was found bleeding by locals who rushed to the spot after hearing her screams. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and later referred to Gwalior for advanced treatment due to her critical condition.
Police reached the spot shortly after receiving information and arrested the accused. Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Mool confirmed the arrest and said that further investigation is underway.
The incident triggered strong anger in the area, with villagers and relatives blocking a road for several hours demanding strict action against the accused. The protest disrupted traffic movement until senior police and administrative officials reached the spot and assured strict legal action.
Following assurances from authorities, the blockade was withdrawn and normalcy was restored in the area.
