The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended Delhi’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls for the second time this month, giving voters more time to submit enumeration forms and pushing the publication of the final voter list to October 27.
Under the revised schedule issued on Tuesday, the door-to-door verification exercise by booth-level officers (BLOs) will now continue until August 17. The draft electoral rolls will be published on August 24, while the final rolls will be released on October 27.

The door-to-door exercise was earlier scheduled to conclude on August 8, while the draft rolls were due to be published on August 17 and the final electoral rolls on October 19.
CLAIMS AND OBJECTIONS WINDOW EXTENDED
With the revised schedule, voters will be able to file claims and objections from August 24 to September 23.
Earlier, the window was scheduled to run from August 17 to September 16.
The poll officials will dispose of the claims and objections between August 24 and October 22, according to the revised timeline.
The ECI’s latest move marks the second extension this month for the voter roll revision exercise in the Capital.
OVER 62% ENUMERATION FORMS DIGITISED
BLOs in Delhi have distributed enumeration forms to almost all of the city’s 1.45 crore voters, while more than 62 per cent of the filled-in forms have been digitised so far.
The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office said the latest extension was aimed at giving voters more time to submit their completed enumeration forms.
The digitisation process has been slower than expected in Delhi due to several factors, according to the CEO office.
BLOs have reported that many voters are yet to return the forms provided to them. Errors in voter details, technical issues and difficulties in locating previously recorded voter information have also contributed to delays in digitisation.
The Delhi CEO office has urged voters who have not yet submitted their enumeration forms to do so at the earliest.
SIR BEGAN ON JUNE 30
The SIR of Delhi’s electoral rolls began on June 30, with BLOs undertaking door-to-door distribution of enumeration forms. The qualifying date for the exercise is July 1, 2026.
More than 13,000 BLOs are involved in the exercise across all 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi.
The Delhi CEO office said the extension was in line with the central objective of the SIR exercise — to ensure that “no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral roll, and no ineligible person is included”.
