A new TV became much more than a household purchase for one Swiggy delivery rider from West Bengal. It was the result of months of small savings, and a gift that left his mother and grandmother beaming with happiness.
The delivery partner, Uday Halder, shared a video capturing the moment that showed him surprising his family with the new television. The clip has been doing the rounds on social media, with viewers touched by the simple joy inside his modest home.

In the clip, Uday explains that he had been putting aside small amounts from his daily earnings to make the purchase possible.
“Main Swiggy maar ke, thoda thoda paisa jama kar ke main yeh laaya hoon (I worked with Swiggy and saved a little money at a time to bring this home),” he said, pointing towards the television.
An Indian daily soap played on the screen as Uday proudly told his family, “Yeh wala TV main khareed ke laaya hoon (I bought this TV).”
His excitement was evident as he turned towards his mother and grandmother, eager to see their reaction. “Mera mummy, mera dida bohot khush ho gaya hai. Mera dida se baat karo (My mother and grandmother are very happy. Talk to my grandmother),” he said.
He then switched to Bengali while speaking to his grandmother and asked whether she was happy with the new television. She responded with a bright smile and a nod, visibly pleased by the thoughtful gift.
Uday then turned towards his mother and asked her to say something about the new addition to their home.
“Bhaalo, khoob khushi (Good, very happy),” she replied and gave Uday a heartwarming peck on the cheek.

It is a simple exchange, but the happiness in the room says more than words could. For Uday, the television was not simply something he had bought after months of saving. It was a way of bringing a little more comfort and happiness home for the people he loves.
The video has since gathered thousands of views and warm reactions online. Many viewers praised Uday for his dedication and the effort it took to turn his daily earnings into a meaningful gift for his family.
In an age of expensive surprises and grand gestures, Uday’s gift stood out for its simplicity: a television bought one small saving at a time, and a family whose joy made every rupee feel worth it.
