A woman constable posted at Sathi police station in Bihar’s West Champaran district has been suspended after a video of her in civilian clothes while carrying a government-issued weapon surfaced on social media.
According to a press release issued by Bettiah Police, the video came to the notice of the West Champaran Superintendent of Police, who took serious note of the matter and ordered an inquiry.

The inquiry was entrusted to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), West Champaran-Bettiah, who was tasked with examining why the constable had made the video with the government-issued weapon and whether departmental rules governing social media use had been followed.
INQUIRY FINDS VIOLATION OF SOCIAL MEDIA RULES
According to the police, the inquiry found that the woman constable had failed to comply with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and prescribed guidelines issued by Bihar Police Headquarters, Patna, regarding the use of social media.
The police said making and circulating a video in civilian clothes while carrying a government-issued weapon was not in accordance with departmental rules. The violation of the SOP and prescribed guidelines was treated as negligence.
Following the inquiry report, the West Champaran Superintendent of Police ordered the constable’s immediate suspension and initiated departmental proceedings against her.
POLICE ISSUE STRICT SOCIAL MEDIA INSTRUCTIONS
Following the incident, Bettiah Police directed all personnel to strictly comply with the rules and departmental instructions governing the use of social media.
The police said any police officer or personnel found violating these rules in the future would face strict disciplinary action.
