Carlton has farewelled fan favourite Adam Saad ahead of next month’s important national draft.

Saad played six seasons at the Blues following periods at Gold Coast Suns and Essendon.

The 219-game defender produced his best season in 2022, earning an All Australian blazer.

Saad played just three times in 2026 after the rise of Billy Wilson and his future became even shakier when the Blues traded in brilliant halfback Lachie Whitfield.

The left-footer had a booming kick that provoked the Blues’ fans to “woof” when he wound up.

“As a kid growing up just down the road from Carlton, I never took it for granted that I got the chance to play for this club in front of our incredible supporters,” Saad said.

“The ‘woof’ became something really special to me, and I want to say a huge thank you to all the Carlton community for embracing me from day one.

“I leave this club so grateful for the experience I’ve had, the friendships I’ve made and will now work through what the next chapter looks like for me.”

St Kilda, meanwhile, has cut Jack Carroll after 15 games at Moorabbin.

Carroll, 23, played his first 21 games at Carlton before joining the Saints as a delisted free agent.

“Decisions such as these are always tough to make at this time of year,” St Kilda general manager Lenny Hayes said.

“We thank Jack for his contribution to the club and wish him all the best for the future.”

Brisbane has delisted Darragh Joyce and Luke Beecken ahead of its historic pursuit of four consecutive premierships.

Joyce, from Ireland, played 14 matches across four seasons, while Beecken made just one appearance.

“Darragh and Luke have both made a valuable contribution to the Brisbane Lions and have been highly regarded teammates during their time at the club,” Lions general manager Danny Daly said.

“Darragh’s experience, resilience, and willingness to put the team first have been greatly appreciated, while Luke has shown strong development and application throughout his time in our program.

“We thank them both for their tireless effort and commitment to the cub and wish Darragh, Luke and their families all the best for the future.”

North Melbourne has steadied its list after earlier delistings, re-signing defender Toby Pink and forward River Stevens.

Pink played only a handful of AFL matches this year before a season-ending shoulder injury, while Stevens is yet to make his senior debut.

North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said Pink and Stevens earnt their one-season extensions.

“Toby has grown into an important part of our defensive depth over the past few seasons and is a reliable player for us when called upon,” Rawlings said.

“We have faith in River’s development and he has a lot of room for growth. We’re eager to see how he evolves over the coming year.

“We’re looking forward to seeing Toby and River hit the ground running in pre-season.”
