Actor Celina Jaitly has become the latest actor to face online criticism over her festive attire, days after Kriti Sanon was trolled for her look in a Raksha Bandhan commercial. Celina was targeted on social media after she attended a Raksha Bandhan event in Mumbai wearing a floral saree paired with a deep-neck red blouse.
Sharing a video of the 44-year-old actor on X, a user criticised her outfit and questioned its appropriateness for a Hindu festival. The post also pointed out the absence of a bindi, sindoor, bangles and other traditional elements, calling the look disrespectful to Indian culture and traditions.

One of the users reacted to the video and said, “After Kriti senon, now Celina Jaitley celebrating Rakshabandhan in revealing clothes. Look at her attire for a Hindu festival, it is demeaning the culture and tradition (sic),” another user wrote, “After Kriti Sanon, now Celina Jaitly too will have some people starting to say good and bad things about her attire on this Raksha Bandhan day. People are raising questions about respect for the traditions and culture of the Hindu festival, but in today’s times, people wear mixed dresses; no one should have any objection to that, yet some devotees will start their widow’s lament on this too and say (sic).”
A third user chimed in and wrote, “Hello Culture protectors. Your sister Celina Jaitley is celebrating Rakshabandhan with open cleavage. What will you say now? (sic)” A fourth user commented, “Bollywood folks never learn from any controversy; instead, they end up repeating the same mistake! After Kriti Sanon, now a video of Celina Jaitly from Rakshabandhan has surfaced. In the video, Celina can be seen tying a rakhi on a young child and performing aarti (sic).”
The backlash comes shortly after Kriti faced similar criticism for her appearance in a Raksha Bandhan campaign for a jewellery brand. In the advertisement, Kriti celebrated the festival in a contemporary ethnic ensemble featuring a deep-neck bralette blouse and cape. While many appreciated her modern interpretation of festive fashion, others objected to the outfit and called it inappropriate for the occasion.
Kriti later addressed the criticism, defending her outfit and the campaign. She questioned why a woman’s neckline should be linked to her cultural values and pushed back against the idea that women should be told what to wear.
The controversy took another turn a day later when the jewellery brand issued a statement announcing that it had decided to withdraw the advertisement.
