A man who has accused Alan Jones of kissing him and groping his buttock when he was a teenager has denied concocting the allegation, a court has been told.

Mr Jones, 85, is standing trial in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court as he battles allegations that he groped and kissed five male complainants over nearly two decades.

A man, who can only be known as Complainant A, has told the court Mr Jones kissed him, put his tongue in his mouth and grabbed his right buttock during an incident at the former shock jock’s Fitzroy Falls home in the NSW Southern Highlands.

The man, who was the last of five complainants to give evidence during the long-running trial that has entered its 13th week, told the court he was 17 years old at the time of the alleged incident, which he said left him feeling “violated”.

‘It’s not true’: Accuser’s admission

During his cross-examination, Mr Jones’ defence attacked A’s credibility over his complaint to police about a separate, unrelated alleged assault.

He told the court that after presenting to hospital with head and leg injuries, he initially lied and gave nurses, doctors and police the wrong date on which the alleged assault occurred.

He eventually admitted to a doctor the alleged incident had occurred two weeks prior.

“It’s not true that it occurred the night before,” A told the court.

He also manipulated one of his injuries to make it look more fresh to match his timeline and dressed back up in the clothes he was wearing two weeks prior before he presented to hospital, the court was told.

The alleged incident

“A” alleged during his evidence that Mr Jones kissed him in the hallway of the Fitzroy Falls property as he was saying good night.

The court was told that A stayed at the property over two nights, and he alleged that after bidding farewell to two other dinner guests, Mr Jones leant in and kissed him.

During A’s lengthy cross-examination, the court was told Mr Jones claimed the pair hugged and then retired to separate bedrooms.

“The true situation is that after you hugged you went to your room and went to bed,” defence barrister Gabrielle Bashir told the court earlier this week.

“You’ve missed some details Ms Bashir in that account,” A replied.

The court was previously told A met Mr Jones after writing to him about his family’s financial hardship.

The court was told that over several years, Mr Jones provided in excess of $100,000 to support the family and assisted them in renovating their home and with legal fees.

Mr Jones assisted the family by sourcing a builder and a lawyer and used his contacts with a bank to remortgage their home and have $600,000 wiped from the loan, the court was previously told.

A told the court that he was grateful for the generosity that Mr Jones extended to his family and he denied inventing the allegation.

“The assault that you alleged occurred at Fitzroy Falls did not happen,” Ms Bashir said.

“That is not true,” A replied.

“(Mr Jones) was nothing but kind and generous to you,” Ms Bashir said.

“Mr Jones has been generous to me over the years, but the word ‘nothing’ is not correct,” A replied.

The court was told that A spoke to police the year of the alleged incident, and again the following year, when he told officers that he did not want to proceed with an investigation.

He spoke to journalist Kate McClymont, who first aired allegations about Mr Jones, in December 2023.

He was subsequently quoted by Ms McClymont in a story under a pseudonym.

Ms McClymont is expected to give evidence later in the trial.

The court was told that in the wake of the alleged incident, A handed his mother a handwritten note in which he told her something “sexual” happened with Mr Jones but did not elaborate.

Mr Jones has pleaded not guilty to 19 counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching.

The trial has been delayed due to illness and will continue on Monday.
