Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha continued its steady run at the box office on its first weekend. Despite mixed reviews, the film witnessed growth on Sunday and is now inching closer to the Rs 50-crore mark.
According to early estimates by trade website Sacnilk, Alpha earned Rs 13.25 crore on Sunday, registering a 15.2 per cent jump from its Saturday collection. With this, the Shiv Rawail directorial has collected an estimated Rs 34 crore (India nett) in its first three days.

The film’s India gross stands at Rs 40.80 crore, while it has earned around Rs 18 crore overseas, taking its worldwide gross collection to an estimated Rs 58.80 crore.
Despite rain disrupting normal footfall in major cities, including Mumbai and Delhi, Alpha recorded encouraging occupancy on Sunday. As per Sacnilk, the film registered 12.92 per cent occupancy during the morning shows, which climbed to 38.46 per cent in the afternoon and peaked at 49.38 per cent during the evening shows, before settling at 31.62 per cent for the night shows.

With a healthy first weekend behind it, all eyes are now on Alpha’s first Monday, which will determine whether the film can sustain its momentum at the box office in the days ahead.

The film has also received a mixed response from critics. In its review, India Today rated Alpha with 2.5 stars, praising Alia Bhatt‘s performance as Sita while pointing out the film’s inconsistent screenplay.
Directed by Shiv Rawail and written by Uday Chopra, Alpha released in theatres on July 3. The seventh installment in the YRF Spy Universe also stars Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Dia Mirza in key roles.
