An American influencer who gained an online following after regularly documenting her decade long cancer battle has tragically died.

Erin, as she was known to her TikTok community consisting of more than 11,000 followers, was known for sharing her raw and vulnerable cancer journey, with her death confirmed in a statement on her account.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share that Erin has passed away,” the post read.

“She was so deeply loved and will be missed more than words can express. Thank you to everyone who supported her and loved her throughout her journey.

“Rest in peace, my sweet Erin.”

It comes after the 28-year-old, who loved Taylor Swift, went into hospice care in May after the cancer spread to the membrane around her brain.

“Which explained a lot because I started to have terrible migraines like daily and I was super sensitive to light and sound,” she said in a TikTok video.

“I made a decision to go on hospice a few weeks ago at the beginning of the month it has been probably the best thing that I’ve chosen for myself in a while, choosing that comfort over putting my body through honestly pointless treatment.

“Hospice isn’t my way of giving up it’s my decision to give my body a break that I think after 10 years I deserve.”

She described the move as “scary” and acknowledged the fact tumours were still growing in her body.

That same month, Erin said she underwent radiation to treat the tumours causing her pain, and she also tried a new drug, but that was “as bad as chemo if not worse”.

“I ended up telling my doctor I cannot handle being on this,” she said.

The news of her death seemed to spread far and wide across TikTok as people who stumbled upon her page for the first time were just as heartbroken as her fans.

“You just appeared on my feed, and learned of your passing. Rest in peace. Glad you are not in pain anymore,” one TikTok user said.

Another said: “This is so sad I wish I found your page before today.”

“God bless your soul Erin. I just came across your page and you are so incredibly strong and that is amazing to witness. You had so much courage during the most challenging and terrifying time in your life. May you rest in the sweetest peace,” a third added.
