A married couple has been left with wounds, lacerations and a puncture following a vicious dog attack on Thursday evening.
The couple were out on a walk with their own dog in Arundel on the Gold Coast when a mastiff started chasing them down the street.
The mastiff attacked the couple, who called for help after the dog latched onto them.
Residents nearby came to their rescue as they chased off the dog and called for emergency services.
The man aged in his 50s suffered lacerations and puncture wounds to his arm, while his wife in her 40s suffered wounds to her arm and hands.
Following the attack the council said city officers seized the animal from the scene and dropped a leaflet in the dog owner’s letterbox.
On Friday the couple remained in hospital.
