Bangalore: Following recent searches in Bengaluru, former KPSC chairman Shivashankarappa Sahukar and KPSC member B. V. Geetha are reportedly in custody for questioning as part of the Enforcement Directorate’s ( ED ) investigation into alleged irregularities in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC ) recruitment.

The action was taken in response to rumors that IAS official Gnanendra Kumar, who is being interrogated by the company, had given details of an alleged network that was run by government recruitment to investigators.

On Tuesday, October 6, ED officials reported a second search of Shivashankarappa’s mansion in Dollars Colony. After conducting searches at the house, the crew arrived at noon and interrogated the former president. He was later taken into custody by the company.

A related search was carried out at B. V. Geetha’s home, who was also reportedly detained for questioning.

ED examining KPSC team involvement

Investigators are looking into allegations that prospect information was reportedly gathered from selection records and validity lists and later used to identify individuals who might be approached for job-related deals.

In exchange for money, intermediaries reportedly contacted selected individuals and promised to help government meetings. The allegations that candidates were required to make advance obligations of Rs. 5 million and Rs. 10 million are being investigated by investigators.

The ED is also looking into the alleged involvement of KPSC employees, brokers, and other representatives in the reported agreement.

The scope of the investigation reportedly widened to a number of recruitment activities that were carried out over the course of the past two to three years. According to data obtained by Gnanendra Kumar, enrollment in about 13 different departments may have been impacted by suspected irregularities.

KAS soldiers, animal officials, inspectors of vehicles, jobs in the health department, and assistant specialists working for the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department are reportedly among the articles under investigation.

The company is then expected to confirm the statements by examining standard enrollment documents, bank records, communications, and other evidence.

Senior officers and former KPSC functionaries allegedly linked to the situation are being pressured more by the recent requests. As it looks to see whether a wider recruitment-for-money community operated within or around the committee, the ED is likely to issue more people.

The function of personal people will only be established once the agency has finished its investigation and gathers supporting evidence, and the allegations remain open to investigation.
