An Australian woman is facing up to 20 years behind bars in an Indonesian prison, after police allegedly intercepted a parcel containing vapes with about 50ml of cannabis oil at her rental home on Lombok island.
Local media reports that Indonesian police noticed a suspicious parcel sent through a courier service to the holiday island of Gili Trawangan from Australia
Police discovered the parcel had been re-routed to a residential estate at West Lombok, where an Australian woman lived.
Investigators tracked the parcel to the property where they allegedly found five boxes of vape liquid with cannabis oil, two empty boxes of vape liquid and a vaping device.
The woman was arrested at the property last month.
North Lombok Police Narcotics Chief Nyoman Diana Mahardika alleged the woman – identified by the initials BC – admitted she used the cannabis vape to relieve knee pain and depression.
He told local media it would be investigated as a crime.
“The items were not sent directly to Gili Trawangan, but were shifted to a residence occupied by BC. We opened the package in front of local witnesses,” he said.

“The suspect admitted that the contents of the empty boxes had already been consumed.
“She must comply with the laws and regulations in force in our country.
“As for narcotics such as marijuana, it must not be possessed, used or traded within our jurisdiction.”
The woman was faces up to 20 years in jail and a $156,000 fine (two-billion rupiah) if found guilty.
She has been remanded in custody to face prosecution.
