Seven-year-old Ragini from Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia, had made an emotional appeal for help to continue her studies. After the video went viral, the district administration came forward to assist her.
The District Magistrate (DM) visited her village and announced a series of measures aimed at making her education and daily life easier.
During his visit, the DM Mangal Prasad Singh met Ragini and her family and took note of the challenges she faced. As an immediate resolution, he handed her a tricycle to help her travel, along with books, toys, a cradle, educational materials and a Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) kit to support her studies.

The administration has also moved ahead with plans for Ragini’s medical treatment. The district Chief Medical Officer (CMO) has been directed to examine her condition and explore the possibility of an operation for her leg. The DM has instructed officials to facilitate treatment wherever necessary.

The intervention also extends beyond Ragini’s immediate needs. Directions have been issued for the repair of the toilet at her home and the road, addressing some of the basic difficulties faced by the family.
The development comes days after Ragini’s emotional appeal for help went viral. Her determination to study despite the difficulties she faced while travelling to school drew widespread attention and eventually reached the district administration.
In the video, she had made an emotional request to the District Magistrate, addressing him as “DM uncle” and asking him to help her.
Now, with a tricycle, books and learning material in hand, Ragini has received the support she had hoped for.
