Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar visited flood-affected areas of Assam’s Sivasagar district on Wednesday to express solidarity with families struggling in the aftermath of the recent floods. The 37-year-old travelled to several affected locations, met residents and distributed essential relief material.
During the visit, Pednekar listened to the concerns of local families and encouraged relief workers involved in rehabilitation since the disaster. Her visit came after a series of public appeals last month in which she highlighted the scale of the crisis in Assam and asked people to support relief efforts.

She was accompanied by volunteers of the Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF), who have been carrying out relief operations in flood-hit parts of Sivasagar since late July. The organisation has been providing food, essential supplies and other humanitarian assistance to affected communities, while continuing to support recovery and rehabilitation work.
Earlier appeal by the actor
Earlier last month, Pednekar drew attention to the floods in Assam and urged people to come together for those affected. Referring to the scale of the damage, she said entire villages had been submerged, thousands had been displaced and several lives had been lost.
In one appeal, Pednekar said, “There have been a lot of bad floods in Assam. The situation is so bad that 7.5 lakh people have been evacuated. More than 40 people have died, and the death toll is increasing. Entire villages have been washed away, and animals have been washed away. Whatever they had, everything is finished.”
She also urged people to support relief efforts, saying, “Assam needs a lot of supplies. Food, mattresses, sanitation, and evacuation. If you see the visuals, your heart will break. It is very, very heartbreaking, and Assam really needs our support. I request everyone to donate as much as possible. And spread this message a little.”
In another video, she said, “We’ve seen the power of the algorithm. Assam and actually even parts of Gujarat are submerged. The floods have caused extreme devastation. They need our help!”
The official Instagram page of the Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation also shared a video showing relief material received from across the country. It thanked Pednekar for standing with the team and helping amplify the Assam Flood Relief Mission. Singer Nilotpal Bora also acknowledged the efforts of Pednekar and other celebrities who had come forward to assist, and urged the actor to promote NGOs working on the ground.
Other celebrities voicing concern
Recently, actor Randeep Hooda had also travelled to flood-hit parts of Upper Assam, including Sivasagar, where he joined relief work with the humanitarian organisation Global Sikh. He met affected families, interacted with volunteers and distributed essential supplies.
While returning from flood relief work in the state, Hooda also visited the native village of his longtime helper, Sagar Limbu, in Sarupothar in Assam’s Golaghat district. He said he had come to Assam to help during the floods and decided to make the visit after being told that the village was not far away.
Speaking during the visit, Hooda described the area as very beautiful and said the people were cheerful, warm and welcoming. Recalling that he had stayed in Nagaland’s Lukuto village the previous night, he said that after reaching Sagar’s village he felt the region was ‘really heaven on earth’. In a light-hearted remark, he added that he had now become the North East’s ‘jamai’, saying that people told him that wherever he went.
