Bittu Tabahi, the 20-year-old man who spent months cleaning a heavily polluted river in Madhya Pradesh largely on his own is now looking beyond his hometown, asking people across India to decide which state he should visit next to continue his clean-up mission.
Surendra Singh Choudhry, shared a new video on Instagram after receiving a job offer from The Ocean Cleanup, the organisation founded by Dutch environmentalist Boyan Slat.

In the video, Bittu thanked people for supporting him throughout his journey and asked them to suggest the next state where he should take his clean-up efforts.
“You guys have supported me a lot through this journey of cleaning rivers,” Bittu said in the video. He then revealed that he had received a job offer from The Ocean Cleanup before adding, “I would like to visit different states now to clean up there as well.”
He ended the video with a question for his followers: “I just wanted to ask you guys, which state should I come to and clean up next?”
The video was shared with the caption, “Which state should I come to first?”

Bittu’s latest video came shortly after his work on the Ajnar River in Madhya Pradesh received widespread attention online.
For months, the young man had been removing plastic, discarded waste and other rubbish from the heavily polluted river and cleaning the surrounding public areas.
What made his efforts particularly striking was that he was not carrying out the work as part of a large government campaign or an environmental organisation. Instead, he largely funded basic supplies himself and repeatedly returned to the river to remove the accumulated waste.
He also documented the transformation on social media, sharing before-and-after pictures that showed the stark difference in the river and its surroundings. The images offered a glimpse of how much could change through persistent effort, even when a person was working without a large team or institutional backing.

His work eventually caught the attention of Boyan Slat, the Dutch founder and CEO of The Ocean Cleanup, an organisation that works to remove plastic pollution from oceans and rivers.
The response was almost like a nationwide list of requests, with people suggesting different states they wanted Bittu to visit.
Several users named Bihar, Uttarakhand and Maharashtra, while others put forward their own states and regions, effectively turning the comments section into a list of places where they felt environmental clean-up efforts were needed.
The comments reflected just how many places people felt could benefit from similar efforts, with users calling for him to visit states including Bihar, Uttarakhand and Maharashtra.
