Amid growing buzz of a possible Cabinet expansion, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that he can no longer work as much as he used to and that it was time to hand over responsibilities to the new generation.
Speaking at an event in Nagpur, Gadkari said his involvement in public work had been reduced and that the younger generation should now be given an opportunity to take the work forward.

“These days, I can’t do as much work. I did it when I could. Now, my involvement has diminished. Work should be handed over to the new generation. A new generation has come, and the older generation is guiding them,” Gadkari said.
Gadkari said he had been active in public life for nearly 30 years and had witnessed several ups and downs during his career.
“I have been continuously working in public life for the last 30 years. I have seen many ups and downs and received many awards. But I can’t work much now, the new generation should be given a chance to work,” he said.
Gadkari, however, went on to speak about the development work ahead, saying the scale of work would increase in the coming years.
He said the aim was to ensure that no tribal village in Maharashtra remained without electricity and that development became visible across the state.
The Union Minister’s remarks came just days after the BJP underwent a major organisational overhaul, the first of this scale since 2015, when Amit Shah was the party president.
Last week, the BJP announced its new national team under party president Nitin Nabin. The 65-member team includes 51 new faces, signalling a significant generational shift within the organisation.
The new team has 13 national vice presidents, including former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former RSS functionary Ram Madhav. Former Union minister Smriti Irani has been appointed one of the party’s eight national general secretaries.
The organisational overhaul has also fuelled speculation about a possible reshuffle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Union Cabinet.
