A nine-year-old child has snapped a picture of the “head of a creature in the water” during a cruise on Loch Ness.

Crystal, who was visiting the fabled Scottish tourist destination with her family from Australia, captured an image of movement in underneath the surface of the water during a cruise on loch and it was submitted to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register.

The organisation shared the image online on July 23 and wrote: “Nine year old Crystal, visiting from Australia with her family, was on the bottom deck of one of the cruise boats on the loch when she took a picture of what she described as the head of a creature in the water at 11.30am. This is what she saw.”

Crystal’s sighting is the eight report from the loch in 2026.

It comes just weeks after another youngster, eight-year-old Abigail Ross, caught a mysterious object on camera in the waters of Loch Ness.

It was described as “small dark object” the size of a “small rowing boat” but moving as fast as a “jet ski”.

The picture – which shows a dark object speeding past in the distance – was also shared with Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register along with the message describing the incident.

It stated: “5 July 2026 – Eight year old Abigail Ross and her family were visiting from the Edinburgh area when at 1pm she spotted a small dark object approximately 6 foot in length and 3 foot in height in the distance.

“The family said that if it was a boat it would have been a very small rowing boat and it moved more like a speed boat or jet ski in the water. “

Other sightings logged with the organisation this year include a report from Sharon Herbert, from from Kent, England, who took a picture of an unidentified “green mass” in the water which she spotted during a cruise on June 23.

The report read: “Sharon Herbert, visiting from Kent, took a picture of an unknown object close to the Jacobite cruise boat at 10.27am as it came to shore at Urquhart Castle.

“Jacobite Cruises have confirmed that their skipper says there is no explanation that they can offer as to what the green mass is.”

In May, American tourist Nickolas Weigand visited the infamous site in Scotland and spotted a “mysterious” object in the water after reviewing footage from the trip.

Nickolas – who was filming the loch on his camera during a bus tour – couldn’t explain the strange sighting so he made a report to The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, telling the organisation: “At the time of the filming, I was only looking through the viewfinder of my camera rather than the lake itself.

“We were driving at a pretty fast rate down the roadway directly next to Loch Ness. Because our tour was limited on time, I did not have time to watch my recorded footage until after the tour was over.

“After careful review of the footage, I discovered something mysterious and unknown deep in the water quite far away from shore.”

He added: “In the footage and in the still photographs I captured from the video, you can clearly see a dark image of something breaking the water surface as we drove by. “The object is relatively large, gauging the distance from where we were on the bus to the distance of the water, using road signs on shore to gauge what was the size of whatever was in the water.”
