Arun Matheswaran’s DC, which marks filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj’s much-awaited debut as a lead actor, has opened to a notable response at the Indian box office.
The film recorded a first-day India nett collection of Rs 4.10 crore, according to trade website Sacnilk.
The film grossed Rs 4.70 crore in India on its opening day, while its overseas collection stood at Rs 1 crore. This took its worldwide gross to Rs 5.70 crore after Day 1. DC recorded these collections across 3,504 shows in India.

The Tamil version led the film’s performance, earning Rs 2.60 crore net on Day 1 and recording an overall occupancy of 45.57 per cent. Morning shows registered 32.62 per cent occupancy, while afternoon and evening shows recorded 43 per cent and 35.38 per cent, respectively. The strongest response came from the night shows, which recorded 67.38 per cent occupancy.
The Telugu version contributed Rs 1.25 crore to the India nett collection, with an overall occupancy of 30.80%. The Hindi version added Rs 25 lakh, recording 9 per cent occupancy. Meanwhile, the Telugu EPIQ version registered a strong 71% overall occupancy.
Tamil Nadu led the film’s opening-day gross with a contribution of Rs 2 crore. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together added Rs 1.40 crore, while Karnataka contributed Rs 60 lakh.
Kerala added another Rs 40 lakh to the total, with the remaining parts of India contributing Rs 30 lakh.
IndiaToday.in’s review of the film reads, “At its heart, DC is less interested in glorifying violence than in understanding the grief that fuels it. Arun Matheswaran finally marries his visual flair with emotionally resonant writing, while Anirudh’s career-best score amplifies every beat. The result is an arresting revenge thriller that lingers long after the final frame.”
