A Delhi Police cop has been praised online after a video showed him rescuing a young man who was allegedly attempting suicide from the Mahipalpur flyover in the national capital.
Shared on Delhi Police’s official X account, the clip captured the dramatic rescue carried out by Sub-Inspector Anil Sharma.
In the video, the young man could be seen standing precariously on the edge of the Mahipalpur flyover as SI Sharma approached him calmly. Rather than rushing in immediately, the officer appeared to engage the man in conversation in an attempt to put him at ease.

At one point, Sharma was seen offering the man water and patiently speaking to him. According to Delhi Police, the officer also handed over his mobile phone to distract him and gain his trust.
After carefully waiting for the right moment, SI Sharma suddenly sprang into action, grabbing the man firmly and pulling him away from danger. The video showed the officer securing the young man and bringing him to safety as others nearby rushed in to help.
Sharing the footage, Delhi Police wrote that SI Anil Sharma had displayed wisdom, patience and courage in saving the life of the young man.
“Upon reaching the scene, SI Anil Sharma calmed the young man through conversation, gave him water to drink, and distracted him by handing over his mobile phone. Seizing the right moment, he swiftly grabbed the young man securely and pulled him away from the flyover. His sensitivity and quick action saved a precious life,” the force said.

The rescue received widespread praise online, with many users commending Sharma for performing his duty with compassion and bravery. Several commenters described his actions as highly commendable and said protecting lives was the highest responsibility of the Delhi Police.
