POLICE TRACE HUSBAND’S MOVEMENTS
During the investigation, police found that Sabila and Zahid lived together in the rented room and had a six-month-old child. While Sabila’s body was recovered, neither Zahid nor the child could initially be traced.
Police registered a murder case and began scanning CCTV footage from the area. During the investigation, Zahid was seen with another woman, later identified as Rukhsar Khatun.
Further investigation revealed that Zahid and Rukhsar were close to each other. Police then traced Zahid’s relative, Mohammad Osama, in Noida.
RELATIVE HELPED ACCUSED ESCAPE
During questioning, Osama told police that Zahid and Rukhsar had reached him after Sabila’s murder. He helped them hide and later flee to Sitamarhi in Bihar.
Police arrested Osama for helping the accused and subsequently launched a search for Zahid and Rukhsar in Bihar. The two were eventually arrested.
ACCUSED WANTED TO MARRY
During questioning, Zahid and Rukhsar told police that they wanted to marry each other. However, their relationship was reportedly discovered by Sabila before they could take their relationship forward.
Police said that the two then hatched a conspiracy to kill Sabila and fled after the murder. Further investigation is underway.
