Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has rescheduled the weekly state Cabinet meeting to Monday afternoon at the Sahyadri Guest House, moving it from its usual Tuesday slot, according to official sources.

The change has been attributed to Fadnavis’ scheduled attendance at a religious event outside Mumbai on Tuesday.

The revised schedule has drawn attention in political circles as it comes ahead of a series of meetings involving senior leaders of the ruling Mahayuti alliance.

MAHAYUTI LEADERS TO MEET AT VARSHA

Following the Cabinet meeting, Fadnavis is scheduled to meet Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, along with other senior leaders and alliance coordinators, at his official residence, Varsha bungalow.

The meeting is expected to focus on coordination among the three parties that form the Mahayuti government — the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Sources said discussions are likely to include issues related to governance, coordination between alliance partners and differences that may have emerged within the ruling coalition.

A dinner involving ministers and key representatives of the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP is also scheduled to follow the meeting at Varsha.

The back-to-back meetings have added to political speculation in the state, particularly after Fadnavis’ recent visit to New Delhi.

SPECULATION OVER POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS

The unusual scheduling of the Cabinet meeting, followed by a meeting of the Mahayuti leadership and a dinner involving senior alliance figures, has led to speculation about possible political developments in Maharashtra.

There have been discussions in political circles about a potential change in leadership dynamics or a larger political reshuffle. However, there is no official confirmation of any such development.

Government sources have rejected speculation of an imminent political change and maintained that Fadnavis continues to be focused on the functioning of the state government.

The meetings are being viewed officially as an effort to improve coordination among the alliance partners and address issues affecting the government’s functioning.

The BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP have been working together under the Mahayuti arrangement, with Fadnavis serving as Chief Minister and Shinde and Pawar as Deputy Chief Ministers.

With the Cabinet meeting and subsequent alliance discussions now scheduled for Monday, attention is likely to remain focused on the outcome of the meetings and any announcements that may follow.

For now, the government has maintained that the revised schedule is linked to the Chief Minister’s Tuesday engagement, while the broader political speculation remains unconfirmed.
