Jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali has denied long-running claims that her sister, Sussanne Khan, sought Rs 400 crore in alimony from actor Hrithik Roshan after their divorce. The separation of Hrithik and Sussanne had made national headlines, and reports about a large alimony demand had circulated widely at the time.
In a conversation with journalist Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel, Farah said those reports were false and described the divorce as amicable. She said both Hrithik and Sussanne handled a difficult and public phase of their lives with dignity, despite the intense reaction around their personal lives.

Recalling that period, Farah said, “Everyone was in shock. There was a lot of hue and cry. There were a lot of opinions which people had about their personal life, but I think they both handled it all beautifully. It was amicable.” She added, “One thing I want to say on record is that there was never Rs 400 crore alimony, and I feel sick at the bottom of my heart when I see people online saying that Rs 400 crore was paid and Sussanne got richer. I mean, that is such a lie.”
Farah further asserted that Sussanne did not accept any money as part of the separation. Calling the rumours “completely false”, she said their mother had always taught them that relationships mattered more than material possessions. According to Farah, that is one of the reasons Sussanne continues to share a close bond with Hrithik as well as his parents, Pinkie and Rakesh Roshan. “That’s why today, the relationship she has with her ex-husband Hrithik and her ex-in-laws, Pinkie and Rakesh Roshan, is amazing. They love her,” she said.
She also dismissed the perception that Sussanne had benefited financially from the divorce, saying her sister came from a respected family and had always carried herself with grace. Farah described both Sussanne and Hrithik as dignified people, adding that while their marriage did not work out, they never turned it into a public spectacle. “There was no alimony in this. It’s incorrect and completely bad,” she said.
Farah also revealed that after the divorce was finalised in 2014, she repeatedly urged Sussanne to publicly deny the reports surrounding the alleged alimony. However, Sussanne chose to remain silent. Recalling their conversation, Farah said she had asked, “Why don’t you deny all this?” Sussanne’s response, according to her, was, “I don’t care what people think of me, Farah.” Farah added that this reflected their family’s outlook, saying they do not allow public opinion to dictate their lives unless someone genuinely adds value to it.
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan, who were childhood friends, got married in December 2000, shortly after the actor’s debut in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai. They have two sons, Hrehaan and Hridhaan. Although they separated in 2013 and finalised their divorce in 2014, the former couple have remained on good terms and are often seen together with their children. Farah’s comments have once again put to rest the long-standing speculation over the reported Rs 400 crore alimony.
