Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Saturday pulled up officials over the slow utilisation of funds under the MPLADS scheme during a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting in her Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh.
In a video that went viral, an angry Ranaut said around Rs 11 crore was available under her MP fund, but officials had spent only about Rs 50 lakh. “Don’t give me these useless jumlas (fake promises). I’m getting them at every Disha Committee meeting,” the 40-year-old BJP MP said.

She questioned Block Development Officers (BDO) over the delay and demanded a performance report on the expenditure. “When I asked about the MPLADS funds during DISHA Committee meetings, I was told there was ‘absolutely no hiccup’ and that around 90 per cent of the funds had been spent,” she added.
Ranaut said the figures presented to her did not match the actual expenditure and questioned officials over the discrepancy.
She referred to findings by agencies that allegedly showed 30-40 per cent of MPLADS funds had been distributed to fraudulent individuals, with officials unable to recover the money.
The actor-politician also claimed she was being mocked in the national media over her performance as an MP, taking a swipe at officials by saying, “The officials are even better at acting than me.”
During the meeting, Ranaut also used abusive words, including “s**t” and “s**t***e”, while hitting out at officials over the handling of development funds.
She further alleged that people in Mandi were making reels about pending development projects every day, while officials were busy laughing and “cursing” her in their offices.
The BJP MP directed officials to expedite pending development works in Mandi and ensure that the available MPLADS funds are utilised properly.
